Meet the Teachers

Mr. Langevin

Hello Ilchester! My name is Mr. Langevin and I’ve been teaching art at Ilchester full-time since the school opened in 1996. I’ve loved  getting to know all of the Ilchester families over the years. I am not a native Marylander but have been in this area since 1983. The year the Orioles won the World Series, I was a freshman at the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore. My love of art started in the 4th grade when my favorite part of a book report was making the cover illustration! I’ve had many interesting art experiences over the years. One recent experience was last summer when my wife and I had a chance to work with Tewa potters from New Mexico. Learning from Kathy Sanchez, the grandaughter of Maria Martinez and Kathy’s son Gilbert was a wonderful opportunity. In my time away from teaching art I enjoy building structures and creating outdoor spaces as a different creative outlet. Thanks for stopping by our site. I hope you enjoy it!

Mrs. Johnson

Hello! My name is Mrs. Johnson, and you can find me in the Art Room on Mondays and Wednesdays. This is my second year here at Ilchester, and I love it! In addition to teaching, I love creating my own art. I especially enjoy painting, drawing, and printmaking! I have lived in Maryland all my life. Currently, I live in Annapolis with my husband, who is also an artist. We volunteer our time as curators at an art gallery in downtown Annapolis, which helps me connect with my local community, as well as with artists from all over the country. I also love traveling, fall weather, and ice cream sundaes with hot fudge. Thanks for visiting the site, and I hope to see you around the Art Room soon!
